Sociocultural Anthropology · Digital & Animated Cultures in Contemporary China

English

I am a prospective PhD student in sociocultural anthropology, focusing on digital and animated cultures in contemporary China. My research explores how practices such as kigurumi, cosplay, and vtubing make fictional and animated forms socially present in everyday life, and how these practices shape experiences of belonging, moral worlds, and social relations across online and urban spaces. I am particularly interested in media, infrastructure, performance, gendered intimacy, and affect.
